So you've booked a session...what's next!?
Clothing of course my darling! I almost always get asked by my clients for advice on what they should wear to their session.
- First thing, choose something that you feel comfortable and confident in. This is your chance to strut your stuff and put your best foot forward.
- An outfit that represents YOU. So if a floor length ball gown represents you...then lets do it! But typically your going to go for something you would choose for a first day of school vibe.
- Choose clothing with limited logos and graphics. They draw attention away from the pretty faces and the timeless feel that portraits should have.
- Clothing with texture and/or movement photographs amazingly and adds some spice to the portraits.
- Group portrait? Choose 1-3 colors. Ones with similar tones that go nicely together and have everyone work within that color palette.
- For example: dark green, navy, and burgundy – all dark jewel tones. OR tan, a lighter olive green, and denims – all lighter, softer tones... You get the idea.
- Lastly, an iron and lint roller are your best friends! You want to look as clean and crisp as possible to ensure your portraits are as flawless as can be!
I hope this was helpful and gave you a bit of direction for choosing what to wear to your portrait session. But remember, try not to stress too much about it! At the end of the day it is about capturing your true life at this moment in time so you can look back and remember these days with a smile.
And when in doubt...shoot me a picture of potential outfit choices and we can work through it together!
